Park It

Spring is the perfect time to become one with nature.

After a long winter battling cabin fever, now is your chance to bond with family and friends in the great outdoors. The United States is teeming with picturesque parks that make for amazing vacation destinations, including:

Shenandoah National Park

Located in Virginia, Shenandoah National Park features uncompromising beauty that will take your breath away. Set within one of the country’s most famous natural playgrounds, the Blue Ridge Mountains, Shenandoah National Park offers a plethora of family-friendly activities, including hiking, biking, fishing and camping. The park is especially noted for its 500 miles of walking trails and its 105-mile long Skyline Drive. The scenic road provides access to awe-inspiring views of mountains and sprawling vistas.

Shenandoah National Park is also one of only a very few national parks that allow pets on trails. If you are planning to bring your fur baby along on your outdoor adventure you must follow these rules:

*Your pet must be on a leash no longer than 6 feet at all times.

*Pets are allowed in campgrounds and pet-friendly lodging if leashed.

*Pets are allowed, if leashed, on most trails.

*Pets are not allowed on Ranger Programs.

Sequoia National Park

Sequoia National Park is connected with Kings Canyon National Park to form more than 800 miles of hiking trails. The area is a haven for outdoor enthusiasts looking to linger under majestic Sequoia trees, explore wildflower-covered foothills, and the enjoy peace and quiet at the top of Mount Whitney.

If you are vacationing with young children or the elderly, you might consider sticking to the Foothills Area which consists of beginner hiking trails that vary in length from four to 11 miles. One of the most stunning trails leads to Marble Falls. The seven-mile long hike begins near the upper end of Potwisha Campground and leads to breathtaking views of the falls and surrounding natural areas.
