Party Snacks

These party foods, snacks, and treats are almost as much fun to make, as they are to eat! Your kids will have fun helping in the kitchen and taste testing along the way. These snacks also look great and add some color to the table.

Tortilla Rolls

Spread softened cream cheese on soft flour tortillas. Lay thinly sliced ham atop the cream cheese. Roll the entire thing up. Cut off the empty sections at the ends and then begin slicing the remainder into 1” pieces. You can slice pickles into skinny pieces and add before rolling if you want to add more flavor and color.

Silly Nachos

Tease kids by saying, “Hey, that’s nacho cheese!” (As in “not your cheese”) and pulling the snack out of reach. It easily becomes a silly game, but be careful not to get too carried away and spill the nachos.

The other silly part is making fun faces with nachos and with garnishes of sliced cherry tomatoes, shredded cheese, sour cream, or other tasty additions. Two tortilla chips can be used as eyes, a dollop of sour cream can be the nose, and six or eight chips can make a crooked smile.

Aerosol Cheese

Okay, nobody said these were going to be health food inspired snacks. Aerosol cheese is one of the most fun snacks you can find and it’s so easy to use. You can make faces, draw designs, monogram your crackers, or decorate plates that hold other snacks with this fun product. For less costly versions of this funky favorite, look for store brand spray cheese.

Another option is to mix up your own cheese spread or use softened cream cheese with a bit of food coloring added, and apply it with cake decorating utensils. Fill the cake-decorating bag with cheese mixture and apply different icing tips to create imaginative designs.
