Actor Patrick Swayze has been hospitalized after he was diagnosed with pneumonia. This caused Swayze to miss the Television Critics Association (TCA) press event for his new show “The Beast,” which premieres on A&E January 15th.
A&E President Abbe Raven spoke at the event, saying “As we arrive here this morning we have some news. Patrick Swayze has checked himself into the hospital. However, he asked us specifically to go forward with today’s panel. We wish him the very best in his recovery.” A source close to Patrick told PEOPLE that he is not close to death and merely checked himself into the hospital for observation.
Co-star Travis Fimmel, who attended the TCA event, had nothing but praise for Patrick, saying he was an “absolute inspiration” on the set of the show. Executive producer John Romano said that Patrick gave 100% to the show and that he was doing it “five days a week, 12 hours a day.” Once can’t help but think that maybe the strain of filming the new show, along with fighting pancreatic cancer, may have run Patrick down and been detrimental to his already frail health.
Meanwhile, another female celebrity is celebrating the birth of her first son. Former Cosby kid Lisa Bonet, who can currently be seen on “Life on Mars,” seems to have set the crazy celebrity baby name bar really high with the birth of her first son Nakoa-Wolf Manakauapo Namakaeha. Little Nakoa-Wolf was born on December 15th and is the second child of Lisa and Jason Momoa, who is Hawaiian. The couple also has an 18 month old daughter named Lola Iolani. Lisa has a 20 year old daughter, Zoe, by her first husband, rocker Lenny Kravitz.
Now, if you are wondering where the name comes from, let me explain. Nakoa means warrior. If you break down Manakauapo, Mana means strength/spirit, kaua means rain (the baby was born on a stormy night), and po means dark. Namakaeha is Jason’s middle name.
I just hope one day that little Nakoa-Wolf Manakauapo Namakaeha Momoa will be able to pronounce his own name!
