PBS Kids

PBS has always had quality programming, whether for children or adults. Well, now PBS Kids is around for our children. PBS Kids also has a website that allows you and your child to peruse the PBS Kids programs. From “Sesame Street” and “Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood” to “Barney” and “Teletubbies,” you and your child are sure to find something that you will both enjoy.

Upon entering the PBS Kids site, I decided to explore the section for “Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood” first because it was always a favorite of mine when I was young. Not only can you explore Mister Rogers’ house, but there is also a place to explore the Neighborhood of Make-Believe. You can find out more about the characters, fun fact about Mister Rogers, and even create your own Make-Believe story! You can also listen to songs from the show, such as “Won’t You Be My Neighbor?” and “I’m Proud of You.”

Next, I looked at the page for the new “Curious George” series that will be featured on PBS Kids beginning in September. Not only does this page show information about the television show, but it also has the background of how the George stories began. You and your child can even watch a clip from one of the episodes of this new series!

Each page for each show has its own activities. “Teletubbies” has a game where you can make each character appear and disappear. The “Sesame Street” page has printable coloring pages, letters and numbers, and songs from the show. “Boohbah” has a page that names the characters when you click on them, coloring pages, and a place where you can create a dance for Auntie from the Story People. “Dragon Tales” also has games, learning pages, and coloring books.

Of course, there are many more shows with many more pages of fun. Try exploring PBS Kids with your child today!
