People Magazine and Its Bachelor of the Year

In case you missed it on the headlines, People Magazine has just announced their new bachelor of the year – Matthew McConaughey. As you may have noticed, this 37-year-old sexy bachelor has no problem in taking his shirt off. In fact, he seems to enjoy being photographed topless. And with a six-pack like that, I have not problem with him being exposed!

Matthew, a good ole Texas boy, began his career on an episode of “Unsolved Mysteries.” After a bit part in My Boyfriend’s Back, he landed a role in Dazed and Confused, a classic 1993 movie about teenagers in the 70s. Matthew starred in a few forgettable roles such as Angels in the Outfield, The Return of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre, and Boys on the Side (although he was adorable as the police officer boyfriend of fugitive Drew Barrymore) before he landed a lead in the John Grisham film, A Time to Kill. In 1997, he won the MTV Movie Award for Best Breakthrough Performance for that role.

My favorite appearance is when he played himself in “Sex and the City.” He was considering funding a film based on Carrie Bradshaw’s book. Every time I hear the phrase “Hot Hottie Hot,” I think of Sarah Michelle Geller whispering those words to Carrie to describe Matthew.

These days, Matthew is a hot commodity indeed. He is currently filming Surfer Dude (my friend’s son is an extra in that movie, so I get great shots of Matt in his stripped swimming trunks) and Fool’s Gold. It has been announced that he will appear in The Ghosts of Girlfriends Past and Hammer Down.

This is not the first nod to Matthew’s sexiness by People Magazine. In 2005, People named him their “Sexiest Man Alive.” People also added articles on Adrian Grenier, Zach Braff, Justin Timberlake, Ryan Reynolds, Ludacris, Apolo Ohno, and David Spade to their sexy bachelor issue.
