I love this time of year! The is the best time to decorate your teens, and your pre-teens bedrooms. What makes this time of year so special? All of the Back to school i.e. back to college gear is in the stores.
For the past 6 months or so we have been looking to create a window seat area in my daughter’s room for reading and getting some sun. We didn’t want to do a built in window seat because young girls are so fickle and will want to re-organize the room in a year. Finally, yesterday while walking through Walmart, I spied brightly colored foot lockers. We are trying to decide what color to purchase right now, I plan to purchase two (for only $39.00 each).
When the department and discount stores are fully stocked for back to school, which will be a week or two, I am certain they will have matching bedding, and other accessories that will make a teen’s room really pop!
Now, If I were to apply my frugal rules, I would stalk the stores daily to grab up the items as soon a the price dropped, but in this case, frugal rules don’t really apply. This is because there are almost NEVER any items left over for the clearance sales. Fortunately, I am just planning to freshen my daughters bedroom, and should be able to get everything I need for $100.00. With her birthday coming up, my plan is to have her spend the a night or two at Grandma’s and surprise her with a newly painted and decorated bedroom.
If you want to take advantage of the cool college dorm decor on the market, get yourself to your closest bed and bath store, Walmart, Target, Kmart, and similar stores. Grab up those back to school bedding sets as well as organizers, foot lockers, and wall art on the market right now! n Don’t forget to grab lots of organizers to help control your teen’s messy room.
