Personalized Valentine’s Day Gifts

I will never reveal how I know this (it was an accident… really), but according to Playboy king Hugh Hefner, the best gift he ever received was a replica of his boyhood home. Former Playmate and Hef lover Holly Madison paid big bucks to hire a woman named Betty Eberhart to create a miniature house that is a carbon copy of the 84-year-old’s childhood abode in Chicago right down to the teeny tiny comic books he used to draw as a kid.

Hef couldn’t say enough about Holly’s thoughtful gift. It was a touching moment in reality TV and it showed that personalized gifts can make a huge impact on the recipient. While I doubt that many of us has tens of thousands of dollars to drop on a glorified dollhouse, it doesn’t hurt to put a little (or a lot) of thought into choosing a special gift for that special someone.

With Valentine’s Day right around the corner now is the time to think about what makes your partner tick. Consider his or her favorite activities, or the things that you enjoy doing together. For example, there is no sense in forking over $50 for a bouquet of red roses when your lover prefers tulips. Traditional Valentine’s Day gifts, such as chocolate and perfume are great standbys, but if you really want to impress your date, then use some creativity and find a personalized item to give him or her.

Personalized champagne is a romantic gift to give those who enjoy a little bubbly from time to time. Plus, it’s easy and inexpensive to make. Simply pick up a bottle of your sweetie’s favorite champagne, then use your computer printer to create personalized labels for the bottle. You can rename the champagne “Brenda’s Best” or “A Product of Jim and Jane’s Vineyard.” Another option is to buy a personalized bottle of champagne from a company that specializes in unique gifts.

If your lover is into astronomy or you spend a lot of dates stargazing, then consider ordering a star kit as the ultimate Valentine’s Day gift. Most kits come with directions for finding the star and a certificate to name the celestial body once you discover it.
