Personalizing Your Outdoor Living Space 2

pretty porch Do you have an outdoor porch or patio space that you love to enjoy in the spring, summer and fall? What does it look like? This outdoor space often functions as another room of your home, but is it rather plain and generic? Why not personalize it with your own sense of style and make it a welcoming and comfortable space? Here are some MORE ideas.

Personalized pillows are a fun way to dress up a porch or patio. A cute idea is to display your house numbers on the pillows. I like this idea for staging a home to sell. You can also display your family name or favorite sayings in your home. My 21 month old is fond of saying, “no way!” so that might be a cute idea for us. You can also take your ideas for your kids drawings. This is especially fun and whimsical, as well as appropriate for a casual space. Won’t the kids be proud to see their ideas as a permanent part of your home?

To make your personalized pillows, simply use some chalk to lightly sketch your numbers, sayings or design on the pillows. Next, fill in the design with paint. Exterior house paint will give you the durability you need for the outdoors. Hunt out paint you might already have, or buy a small amount at your local paint or home improvement store. A small brush works best.

Place a small stack of books out on your porch or patio. Not only will you have something to read while you relax, but the books are so inviting, offering a cozy occupation and a sense of warmth to the space. Depending on your style, you might choose coffee table books, classic books with worn covers, bright children’s books or the latest reads.
