PETA’s 30th Anniversary Gala

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) held its 30th anniversary gala this past Saturday night at the Hollywood Palladium. Hosted by Alec Baldwin, plenty of celebs turned out to support the cause.

The organization handed out Humanitarian Awards to Eli Roth, Olivia Munn, Dave Navarro, Joanna Krupa, Emily and Rose McCoy, Kellan Lutz, Charo, Lea Michele, Eva Mendes, and Anjelica Huston. Christina Cho was named the Nanci Alexander Award Winner and Dan Neri was named the Bea Arthur Activist Award Winner.

Presenters included Casey Affleck, Joaquin Phoenix, Pamela Anderson, Abbie Cornish, Kelly Osbourne, Sophia Bush, Jena Malone, and Iggy Pop. Bryan Adams performed and celebs enjoyed the music of Street Drum Corps.

Although Pamela Anderson has been a loyal, longtime supporter of PETA, one might think she needs to watch a little more television. On the red carpet, photographers asked her to have her picture taken with “Glee” star Lea Michele. Anderson replied, “Why? Who is she? I don’t even know who that is.”

Okay, I might cut her some slack on that, but later, when asked what she thought about Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez joining the judging panel of “American Idol,” Anderson replied, “I am shocked. I am shocked that Hoff was voted off.” Actually, Pam was just slightly confused – David Hasselhoff was just voted off “Dancing with the Stars.”

There was a silent auction that included such items as lunch with “Project Runway” mentor Tim Gunn (oh, how I would have loved to have won that!), a Linda McCartney print autographed by Sir Paul McCartney, two VIP tickets to “The Ellen DeGeneres Show,” a tattoo by Mario Barth, a five-year supply of PETA Peanut Butter, a one-week stay at a Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, Penthouse, a new electric Nissan Leaf car, an evening dinner with PETA President Ingrid Newkirk, and two lucky winners got a personal training session with “Biggest Loser” trainer Bob Harper.

The after party featured DJ Bill Coleman and a performance by The Beat Freaks, who were featured on “America’s Best Dance Crew.”
