Pfft, Who Needs Excuses?

Do you really need an excuse to skip your exercise today? I don’t. Half the time I’m tired and I can easily make the argument for skipping the workout. I’d rather kick back with a cup of coffee and few extra minutes with the book before I get to work rather than hit the treadmill. But the problem with this is that making that choice, skipping that 30 minutes on the treadmill for a cup of coffee will lead to another and then another. By afternoon, I’m beat and want to take a nap. I may even do it. So getting back those 30 minutes for a cup of coffee in the morning will lose me 2 hours in the afternoon.
See where I am going with this?
You Do Need Excuses

You don’t need excuses to skip your workout – no one really needs an excuse to skip it – we can all come up with a dozen reasons to not do something. What you do need an excuse for is to do your workout. In my case, that 2 hour nap in the afternoon sounds great – but it can be costly to getting other things done. So my excuse for my not skipping my morning workout is that I don’t want to need that nap in the afternoon.

Other good excuses to work out:

  • Writing productivity goes up
  • Mental sharpness increases
  • I feel better physically
  • I feel better about myself

These are just a few of the good excuses I have to work out. What about you?
