It’s right around the corner you know. That’s right, Mother’s Day (it’s May 9 in the US, just in case you’re not a calendar-checking type and this is news to you). How are you going to celebrate the mothers in your life?
While there are hundreds of gifts you could buy, why not create something for your mom (or moms) using photos? One of the many great things about moms is that they are often sentimental and photo-based gifts allow them to keep cherished memories close and even have something to brag about (you know what I’m talking about). So I’m going to offer a few suggestions of photo gifts that you can start working on now so that in two weeks you’ll have something fabulous for your mom.
* Arrange to have a family photo taken, and get a print of your favorite made for your mom. Whether you have a friend take the picture in the park or you have the time and resources to get a professional photo, this is something your mom will love keeping (and you can have one too). If you want to go the extra mile, have the photo framed in a frame that matches your mom’s style and décor.
* Create a brag book. Take a photo of each of your kids and yourself, and create a mini scrapbook she can keep in her purse to pull out and show strangers in the grocery store. Okay, maybe you can ask her not to do that. But she’ll still love having a little book of her favorite kids and grandkids. If you’re really ambitious, you can try coordinating with siblings so her whole family is in the book. Seeing as how you only have two weeks left, though, that may be an idea for next year.
* Create a photo book. Digital software and web-based photos books are an incredible way to have a quality book of photos and experiences created at an affordable price. I’ve fallen in love with these, since they come in multiple sizes and shapes, and can be quite inexpensive. This may even be a good way of creating your brag book.
* Take a generation photo with your mom. Get your grandma, your mom, yourself, and your kids together to take a generation photo. The more generations, the better. Not only will you remember this special photo for years to come, it’s an excuse to get the generations together for a mother’s day feast or other festivities.
No matter what you do for Mother’s Day, creating memories from photos is sure to please!
