A photo scavenger hunt can be a fun and creative project for your kids. It is a great way to get them interested in photography and looking at their surroundings in a different way. On a rainy day it is a productive way to get their creative juices flowing. With a digital camera there isn’t really any expense unless you want to convert the photos to prints. With very young children they can pick the items and you can take the photos. With children old enough and responsible enough let them have full control over the camera. Two children can work on the project together or give them each a time limit to scavenger for their own photos.
The theme for the scavenger hunt can be tailored to meet your child’s specific interests. Themes can even be tied to their current studies or even to document the fine details of a holiday.
Here are a few examples of scavenger hunt themes.
In twenty minutes how many photos of items that begin with the letter F can they take?
Food
Friend
Family
Flowers
Fan
Fish
Take photos of ten circle shaped objects.
Plate
Clock
Gumballs
Lamp shade
Bucket
Soccer ball
Take twenty photos of their favorite toys.
The scavenger hunt is actually half the fun. Once the photos have been taken deciding what to do with them can be just as much fun. The photos can be converted to prints and scrapbooked. Or the photos can be turned into a collage either digitally or from prints. Did only one or two of the photos turn out to be an awesome photo? Pick the best photo and have it made into a poster. Frame it and hang it in your child’s room. It is a real sense of accomplishment to see a photo you have taken hanging prominently in your home for others to enjoy.
Put together your scavenger hunt list and watch your kids show their creative side.
