Here’s a great gift idea from my friend Patti. I know it’s a great gift idea, because she gave me this gift and it was great!
Patti mounted different photographs that she took from her family’s last vacation in the Tetons on blank cards and tied them up in a pretty ribbon. She used two different sizes of cards and also included envelopes, so it was like a whole stationery set. She purchased the natural-style blank cards at the craft store.
The photos were of beautiful flowers and scenery, and each was labeled on the back of the card. They are so gorgeous that I don’t want to mail them away! I’ve got several of them tacked up on my bulletin board right now. I know I’ll mail them sometime, but it’s got to be the right time and the right person.
You could do a different version of Patti’s gift for family members by mounting photos of your kids on cards, or your pets, or scenes from your own backyard if you aren’t planning any exotic vacations. Double-sided tape is your best best for goof-proof mounting, but you could use a spray adhesive if you feel confident with that stuff.
The photos aren’t paper color photocopies. They are printed on photo paper, either off a good printer or processed at a lab. This gives the photos and cards a one-of-a-kind quality that makes them extra special.
If you have the time and energy while you are onvacation, it would be great to send cards like this from your destination to friends and family at home. Pack your camera, double-sided tape and blank cards and ribbon and you can make them as you go.
Another alternative is to photocopy your kids’ artwork and put that on cards or stationery for a fun gift for grandparents or other relatives.
