Last week I gave you some information on photography books. Now, I bring you some photography magazines. Some you may have heard of, others you may not have heard of.
One of the more popular ones is Popular Photography and Imaging. This magazine is appropriate for any level of photographer, hence the “popular” name in the title. Seriously, though, it is a good magazine. Cost for a one year subscription is around $14.00 for 12 issues.
Outdoor Photographer is an excellent choice if you are into the outdoors and nature and landscape photography. Or even if you are just into hiking and kayaking. Lots of good articles written by pros in the field. Subscription around $11.00 for 11 issues.
Shutterbug is a good one to get if you are looking to buy a camera. It is packed with lots of information on buying cameras, as well as tips on a variety of photo subjects. Price is around $12.00 for 12 issues.
National Geographic is a great magazine to inspire you to take great photos. Take a look through an issue and try to figure out how the photographer took that shot. Subscription rates from around $30.00 per 12 issues.
American Photo is the premier showcase for outstanding photography. It covers art, fashion, journalism, celebrity, sports, politics and advertising. Published bi-monthly, 6 issues for $13.00.
Photo Techniques provides the best digital, darkroom and black and white photography. Useful techniques and tutorials on Photoshop, printing, color management, lighting, toning, cropping, composition and more. Also guidelines and tests on cameras, scanners, imaging software, films, papers, and accessories. $28.00 for 6 bi=monthly issues.
Studio Photography used to be a free subscription, and I think it still is. If you are into portrait photography, whether you have a studio or not, this is a good resource, and great price.
