Here is the latest in digital photography news, hot off the presses.
Samsung’s New Vision Line of Compact Digital Cameras
Samsung announced the launching of a new line of compact digital cameras this week, the smallest of which is about the size of a credit card and less than ¾ of an inch thick.
NV3, NV7 and NV10 not only allow you to take great pictures, but you can also use them to play music and videos. The NV designation stands for new vision, and Samsung definitely has that. With the new vision line of cameras, they will be in a position to compete with the big names in digital, like Canon, Sony and Kodak.
The NV3, which retails for $350, is a 7.2-megapixel camera with a 3x optical zoom lens and a built-in MP3 player. The camera also comes with voice recorder and camcorder capabilities.
For $450, the 7-megapixel NV7 offers a more powerful 7x optical zoom. It also comes with advanced picture-stabilization technology and a shake-reduction system. Plus, the NV7 features Samsung’s Smart Touch interface that lets you run your fingers across the button rows to scroll through menus and camera functions.
The last is the 10-megapixel NV10, featuring a 3x zoom, a black aluminum body, and a 2.5-inch LCD. It also has the Smart Touch interface and image-stabilization capabilities as well as MPEG4 video and Photo Gallery playback functions. It costs $400.
45 year old Tracy Hudson, a bar landlady, entered a photo in an international photography competition and is a semi-finalist. She entered a photo of a bar headed goose.
Says Tracy, “Everyone keeps telling me that I have missed my vocation but I say no I’ve just found it. I bought a camera with a long, 70-to-300mm lens from one of my customers Del. I’ve had no training in photography whatsoever but when I downloaded my pictures from the disk I thought did I really do this?”
