Photography Week in Review for December 3-December 8, 2007

This week I offered a three part series on the benefits of shooting in black-and-white. With the holidays fast approaching now is the time to begin creating a holiday photo wish list. What scenes do you want to capture this season? Who or what do you want as your subject? And how can black-and-white photography help enhance your shots? These questions and more were answered this week in the Photography Blog. Take a look:

December 3rd—–Tips on Taking Landscape Shots. Capturing the grandeur of natural wonders can be a challenge. I have found that in most cases landscape photos leave the viewer wondering just how sprawling locations really are (especially if they have never visited themselves). This blog provides simple tips on how you can use scale to shape perspective while not compromising the enormity of the scene.

December 4th—–Shooting in Black-and-White. I love black-and-white photographs. Generally speaking, they are pure, genuine and because they lack an array of colors they help keep your eye focused on the subject rather than be distracted by the picture’s tone and texture. This blog lists photo ops that can benefit from being shot in black-and-white.

December 5th—–Tips for Shooting in Black-and-White. Now that you know what to shoot in black-and-white this blog provides tips on how to make the most of a black-and-white photo op. If you don’t traditionally shoot in black-and-white I urge you to break out of your color rut and give it a shot.

December 6th—–Creating Black-and-White Masterpieces. With their timeless and classic look, black-and-white photos can add a new dimension to your holiday photo sessions. This blog shows you how you can go black-and-white in your own home.

December 7th—–Photography Potpourri–More Matting Tips and the Perfect Camera for eBay Users. This is a follow-up to a previous series of blogs I wrote regarding matting. This blog includes another tip you should keep in mind when choosing the perfect mat for your frame. Also, I spotlighted another popular feature included on “the world’s slimmest digital camera”–an eBay Best Shot mode.

December 8thHow to Get a Picture That Looks Like a Million Bucks From a $100 Camera. Don’t bother upgrading to a $2,500 camera. Forget about signing up for a photography class. All you need to create professional looking photos are a few affordable desktop photo software programs. This blog gives you the low-down on a high tech tool that can turn your ordinary photos into works of art.
