Photography Week in Review for March 16-22, 2008

Whether you are planning your family’s spring vacation or getting a jumpstart on your annual summer trip this blog will come in very handy. This week I covered what you need to know prior to taking your camera on an airplane. From film and airport security screening areas to tips on protecting your camera from drastic temperature changes, here’s a recap of what you might have missed:

March 17th—–Why You Should Never Pack Unused Film in Your Suitcase. It’s a lesson I almost found out the hard way during my recent trip to Hawaii and I tell you all about it in this blog. Sure the rule is posted in big, bold letters at the airport’s security checkpoint areas, but have you ever wondered why TSA agents are so adamant about not allowing passengers to fly with unused film in their checked baggage?

March 18th—–Rules to Remember Before Taking Your Camera on an Airplane. Do you know what the rules are in regards to taking cameras and other photo equipment on airplanes? The FAA has quite a few when it comes to traveling with digital camera equipment. Find out what they are in this blog.

March 19th—–Why You Shouldn’t Have Your Film Go Through Airport X-Ray Machines. Now that you know why you should never pack unused film in your checked suitcase it’s time to learn why you shouldn’t send your film through x-ray machines that screen carry-on bags. Yes, you do have the option to forgo the machine. Find out what it is in this blog.

March 20th—–International Photography Workshops. I review photo workshop opportunities all the time. And every once in a while I’ll find a real winner. The workshop I detail in this blog meets that criterion and then some. Take a look at how you can take a trip of a lifetime and capture it all with your digital camera.

March 21st—–Your Camera and the Elements. Hot, cold, snow, rain, sleet, hail… just because Mother Nature can’t make up her mind doesn’t mean you should hole up indoors when you could be snapping pics outdoors. However, if you plan to venture out into the elements it is a good idea to take extra measures to protect your valuable equipment. Tips to do so are the topic of this blog.

March 22ndWhy Camera Buffs Should Invest in Silica Gel. If you expose your camera to varying temperature changes or are planning to store your camera for an extended period of time you should seriously consider investing in packets of silica gel. Find out why in this blog.
