Summer is close and you may be considering planning your family vacation. If you are looking for a change of scene from the normal trip to the lake or Disney World, you may want to consider visiting some church sites. This is a great way to spend time with your family and learn a little bit more about church history.
There are several options available to you. You can take an extended road trip and visit all of the sites across the United States. This could take about two weeks. If you choose to do this you may want to add in other historic places to visit as well. This kind of trip is a really great way to get to know the country and each other a little bit better. You can also fit in a pageant or two along the way.
Additionally you may just choose one major site or pageant to visit and focus the majority of your vacation there. Additionally you can plan a trip to a nearby amusement park to add some excitement in for your teenagers. Nauvoo and Palmyra are both great areas to visit. You can fit Kirtland into your Palmyra trip by adding just two days to your vacation schedule.
If you live outside of Utah, it is a great place to visit. There are so many options in Salt Lake City to visit. Depending on the age of your children you could spend a few days wandering around and visiting the different exhibits around Temple Square. There are other attractions to take your children to as well in Salt Lake.
The great thing about these trips is that the exhibits are free of charge. Of course it is also wonderful to spend time strengthening your testimony, as well as your children’s testimonies. You may be surprised at how these exhibits touch your children’s hearts.
