For many couples, planning a second honeymoon is an exciting time. It gives them a chance to relive their honeymoon, but this time with more working experience concerning the person they love and married.
A second honeymoon is the perfect time to renew your commitment not only to the marriage, but to each other and set new goals for the future. Most people plan a wonderful trip, often times more exotic than their first honeymoon, because now they are more financially secure. Yet, many neglect the chance to renew emotional and spiritual commitments by renewing marriage vows.
Although some couples choose to officially renew their marriage vows in front of witnesses in a church setting, perhaps even the church where they married, some prefer to renew their vows in a less formal setting, like at home or a special place in a park. Either way, renewing a commitment prior to a second honeymoon can give you a greater sense of security and make your special event even more special.
When you plan a second honeymoon, it will mean more to both people if the destination is one you’ve both wanted to visit, but never had the chance. A place like Hawaii or someplace in Europe might be good. Remember to renew your passports and study up on your destination. A second honeymoon should be just as special as your first, maybe even more so.
There’s no written rule concerning when a second honeymoon should be taken. You don’t have to wait until you’ve reached a landmark anniversary like 25 or 50. Some people take second honeymoons early on in a marriage. Many never had a real “first” honeymoon in an exotic setting, but rather, because of financial constraints, stayed close to home. These couples usually choose to make their second honeymoon really special.
Whatever you decide, remember, your ultimate focus should be the other person, not the destination.
