Planning a Trip? Remember Your Diet

You’re planning a trip or going on vacation. You’ve packed all of the kiddie stuff: electronic devices, books, blankets, bikes, and scooters. You’ve planned for every possible situation but what about your diet? Where are your workout clothes? Did you remember your tennis shoes? Vacation is not the time to completely relax. You may want to sample the local cuisine and that’s fine as long as you consider what goes into your mouth. You don’t want to worry about your waist when you get home. Don’t talk yourself into thinking about it later. What is the likelihood that you’ll get back on track?

You wouldn’t think of skimping on the health of your children so don’t cheat yourself. Put the same amount of diligence into your own well-being. You want to be around for them for a long time. You want to be alive to receive those random hugs and kisses. You want to see them graduate or go to college. You want to hold your grandchildren. Does it make sense to put off your weight loss goals? Every day matters when you’re trying to lose weight. Some days are good while others are bad. That’s life. Don’t consciously put aside your dream and all your hard work. Here are some tips to keep you on track.

1. Organize. List what you need to maintain your weight loss goal. Do you need certain foods or tools to help with calorie counting?

2. Gather information. Does the location have an exercise facility?

3. Keep in touch with your motivational partner. This is the person who will help keep you on the right path.

I invite you to share your tips for staying on track when traveling. We need to keep each other going. Maybe you have an idea that I haven’t considered and that’s possible. I can’t remember my last vacation. I’m looking forward to viewing your comments. This is the year that we press onward to our goals.
