Planning the Toddler’s Birthday Party

My daughter’s birthday is coming up. I have been thinking about this for months now. I want to do something different and fun because she’s getting bigger. Jessie’s birthday is in the middle of November and there’s no telling what the Texas weather will do. Last year it wasn’t cold, but it was raining. We’re in the middle of October now and the temps are still in the 80s. In the next month the weather can stay this way or plummet completely. I have to take the weather into consideration when thinking about what to do for Jessie’s big day.

Last year was a great birthday. Chris and I celebrated at home with Jessie on her actual birthday with a nice dinner, a few gifts, a Hostess cupcake, and a birthday song. The three of us had a very nice time. A few days later the grandparents started to arrive. We adopted Jessie five days after her birthday. We celebrated both events together with a pizza and friends party at our house. The children were able to play nicely in her rooms with her toys.

This year I don’t know if we have enough room and toys to entertain the kids. I have friends whose children are much older than Jessie and her other friends, and I don’t know what they’d do around all the little kids. Is it OK to not invite them?

In our area there are a number of fun places where children Jessie’s age can have a great birthday party. I really want to have a party at one of them, but I also really want to have food and drinks for everyone at the party. I can do that at my house. Guess I better put together a guest list and rent a bounce house. Pray for no rain.
