Planting Seeds Of Inspiration

Did you know that by being a home – based professional, you are setting a good example for your children? It’s true. Home – based professional parents show their children many things on a day to day basis that can positively influence their children’s future. The interesting thing is, most of us do it without even thinking about it or trying to do it.

If you are unsure of what your home – based work is showing your children, consider that at the very least you are showing them that there is an alternative to working outside of the home. Along with that, if you own and operate your own business, you are showing them that it possible to create your own job. My kids are very young, so I have no idea what the job market will look like when they enter adulthood. Those of you with older children can know that if things keep going the way that they are going with the job market, your kids will be able to roll with the punches and create their own jobs if they want or need to do so.

If you are a parent who works from home so that you can be at home with the kids, you are showing them what working from home can do for a family. Their experience with you at home, and seeing you work from home will leave an impression on them that they will remember when it is time for them to have a family of their own. They will know that they have the option of creating an opportunity to combine working and parenting if that is what they want to do.

It is possible that the home – based business that you started could grow over the years, and that one or more of your children may find that they are interested in working with you. Many years down the road, they may even take the business as their own, if you decide to retire from it and hand it down to them. By having your work in your home, your children will feel a connection to it and that may inspire them to ask you questions so that they can find out more about it. Whether or not they ultimately become interested in it, talking with your children about the work that you do from home is yet another way to build a close connection with them.
