Playing the “Dancing with the Stars” Guessing Game

Which celebrities will be shimming and shaking their way to the shiny mirror ball trophy on the upcoming season of ABC’s hit show “Dancing with the Stars?”

Michael Jordan, Dan Quayle, Anderson Cooper, and Rachael Ray’s names have been thrown around, but big wigs at ABC will only say that the official cast will be revealed on August 25th and the dance competition will premiere on September 22nd.

So let the guessing game begin.

Yesterday several publications named singer Toni Braxton as one of the contestants for the seventh season of the reality TV show.

In Touch magazine reports that the 41-year-old signed on the dotted line earlier this week and will finally address reports about her recent health crisis after the official announcement is made later this month on “Good Morning America.”

Three months ago the “Unbreak My Heart” singer, who reportedly suffers from the heart condition pericarditis, checked into a hospital in Las Vegas after experiencing chest pains. She was forced to scrap a series of shows in Las Vegas following her hospitalization, but apparently she’s recovered to the point where she can rumba with the best of them.

“Best,” being relative, of course.

Several New York newspapers are reporting that Braxton will join former ‘N SYNC star Lance Bass, Jewel’s rodeo-rider boyfriend Ty Murray and actress Florence Henderson on the upcoming season.

Yes, Henderson’s name is back in the mix this time around. Last season the “Brady Bunch” star was heavily rumored to be part of the group of ballroom hoofers. (Heck, one publication had her winning the whole enchilada.)

In the end she didn’t make the cut, though it wouldn’t have mattered since Kristi Yamaguchi would have smoked her anyway.

Other celebs rumored for next season are reality TV queen and wannabe star Kim Kardashian. In Touch is also reporting that that ex-Dolphins quarterback Dan Marino will be the token athlete.

By the way, you can dismiss rumors that former boy bander Bass, who’s openly gay, will be paired with a male dance partner. Sources close to the show confirm that wouldn’t happen because “America is not ready to watch two men dancing on national TV.”

As for former Vice President Dan Quayle, his spokesperson reportedly confirmed that he won’t be on the show.

He should have given it a shot. After all, there’s no way he could have been any worse than Tucker Carlson.
