Digital photography has stepped miles and miles away from where it was, only a mere four or five years ago. It is light years ahead of where many ever saw it going. And while I am convinced that film is never going to go out, I recognize the changes that warrant digital to never leave either. So with all of the upgrades and advances in our digital technology, what things can you do with digital that was more difficult with film?
First, film prints had to be scanned into the computer and then sent wherever you wanted them. Digital photos are uploaded straight to your computer or photo printer and printed and/or stored there, where they are easily accessible for almost anything you might wish to do with them. While many people choose to digitally scrapbook their photographs, there are so many other non-scrapbooking related things you can do with all those digital prints.
Playing with digital prints goes far beyond the standard borders and enlargements these days, far beyond the little word bubbles and other cutesy things you can have printed right on your photographs.
With one small search for “digital gifts” on any search engine I found dozens of websites dedicated to exactly that – items that are printed with your digital photographs right on them.
You are sure to find dozens of things you can create with your digital masterpieces to either keep for yourself or give as a gift.
Just in my one search alone on the first page of results, I found real USPS stamps printed with your pictures, mugs, cups, mouse pads, t-shirts, sweatshirts, tote bags and book bags, calendars, playing cards and puzzles. I even found a travel clock that you can have printed with any photograph you choose.
And now there is even digital frames to upload your photographs to and the photo changes periodically. What will technology invent next? Keep watching the photography blog for all the latest and greatest in photo technology.
