The month of September marks a lot of strange holidays and events, among them Pleasure Your Mate Month.
Have you stopped to think about pleasuring your mate recently? What about the level of intimacy in your marriage or how to make your marriage sexier?
Sex and marriage is a tricky –sometimes touchy (no pun intended)—- topic, but it’s important to keep a marriage sensual. But it’s also hard. Kids, work, schedules, deadlines, chores…they all conspire to suck the sexy out of marriage. There isn’t always enough time in the day, or energy at the end of one, to tend to the To Dos and a libido to boot.
But does marriage, love and sex have to be time-intensive to bring pleasure? Do clothes have to come off and private time found in order to fan flames that may need rekindling?
Not necessarily.
You know what your mate likes. You know the look to give that suggests come hither. You know just where to touch to signal interest or entice a shiver. (Or at least I hope you do. If not, by all means take this month to heart and spend it finding that out, would you?)
But do you remember how to make your spouse laugh? Why not spend some time looking for things that tickle your mate’s funny bone, be it a card, movie or joke?
When was the last time you astounded your significant other with a completely unexpected random act of kindness? One that gives them a little extra free time or a break from doing a routine chore.
What about giving pleasure through sense of smell? Either via spritzing on some of that perfume/cologne he or she loves so much but that you’re saving for a special occasion. Or what about the inviting aroma of a favorite dish simmering on the stove or baking in the oven? (Or, heck, radiating from a bag. Sometimes my favorite smell is take-out because it means I’m not cooking!)
Let’s not overlook touch. Ah, so important to any bond, but all hugs and kisses are not created equal. Instead of a quick peck to bid them adieu in the morning or hello in the evening, why be frugal with them? Why not plant a juicy one on them? One where you pull them close, entangle your fingers in their hair, caress their face, and don’t pull away until you’re both gasping for air. Can you even remember the last time a kiss left you breathless?
And last but not least: sight. When was the last time your mate smiled at you? Or you at them for that matter? Not just a grin or a smirk, but a genuine I’m-so-happy-to-see-you-I’ve-missed-you-so-much kind of smile. Even if you just saw them five minutes before. Maybe especially if you just saw them five minutes before. They’ll wonder what’s on your mind –and maybe you’ll surprise yourself at what’s on it.
