Have you ever been incredibly scared of something, only to discover that the something is just as scared of you? That is exactly what happens to Roo, in the animated film “Pooh’s Heffalump Movie”.
In the movie Tigger, Rabbit. Pooh, and Piglet go on a search for a Heffalump. Once they find the Heffalump they plan on capturing it. The other Pooh characters refuse to let Roo come along ion this scary adventure.
Just like the plot of the past two Pooh flicks “The Tigger Movie” and “Piglets Big Movie” the character that gets left out goes off on their own. Roo goes off on a search of his own and actually finds a Heffalump. The Heffalump, appropriately named Lumpy is scared of Roo at first, but quickly the two discover that they have a lot in common and become friends.
Lumpy has lost his mother, so Roo decides to take him home so his mother Kanga can help him find her. The other animals see Lumpy and are scared of him thinking that Heffalumps are scary creatures, not just like them.
I truly love Winnie the Pooh and all of the adventures surrounding that set of characters. This is a cute little story that can in an indirect way help teach kids tolerance of those that are different than them, and not to be afraid of things until they give them a chance.
There is very small amount of peril in this movie, but overall I think that it is appropriate for children four and up. If your younger child is easily disturbed then you might want to give the movie a pre-view before you watch with them.
Poohs Heffalump Movie is rated G and runs an hour and three minutes. You can purchase the movie where ever DVDs are sold, or online at Amazon.com.
