Poor Girl’s Fitness Retreat

Fitting in a new fitness routine can be challenging. It can be so challenging that one decides to not even bother. I have found that if I start working out then I can continue with decent results. However, the thought of fitting in something into an already overfilled schedule is nerve racking. Sometimes the best way to get started is to leave it all behind and focus on fitness for a few days or so. The focus will give you the motivation to continue and the time will give you a new perspective on your schedule so you can successfully add it in. A fitness retreat is a great place to start. However, retreats can be expensive so how do you get the same benefits but do it on a tight budget?

Begin your fitness routine with a friend or family member. Everyone needs the support and accountability when times get rough. Then take a weekend or so and stay at a hotel to get away from your daily grind. Find a hotel that offers a work out facility and a kitchen in the rooms. Most hotels that advertise for business stays will offer both. You will need the kitchen to control your eating and perhaps experiment with new recipes. Bring your swimsuit and tennis shoes to be prepared for swimming, walking, working out, and relaxing in the hot tub. Print out some at home interval training workouts to easily do in your hotel room. Some interval workouts do not require weights.

Your goal for your stay is to develop a realistic workout routine and healthy eating habits while giving you a jumpstart on your new goals. You can use the weekend to go on a fruit fast in preparation for a long term change in your overall eating habits. Sometimes all it takes is a little boost to get started. My business partner and I go on work retreats and love the time away to focus. I think next time we will use it to focus on health and well being. With so much competing with your time and hearts it can be helpful to make the time to focus on only a few aspects of our lives.
