When famed television producer Aaron Spelling died last month he left behind an estate estimated to be worth nearly $500 million. A lot of money that is now leading to a lot of bitter feelings between Spelling’s daughter Tori (of “Beverly Hills 90210 fame) and her estranged mother Candy.
According to US Weekly magazine, “Tori will only receive a $200,000 cash inheritance from her father’s estate, combined with around $600,000 in private investments.” To everyday folks $800,000 may seem like a windfall, but not when compared to Aaron Spelling’s total worth.
A source who claims to know the family intimately says because Tori was so close to her father, “it’s disheartening to her.”
Adding fuel to the fire are claims that according to US Weekly, “Aaron’s will was changed four months ago and that Alzheimers was listed as a contributing factor in his death so he may not have been of sound mind when he revised the will two months before he died.”
Add to that the fact that Tori has admitted to having strained relations with her mother (the executor of Aaron’s will). Things got ugly between mother and daughter following the premiere of Tori’s VH-1 TV show “So noTORIous,” in which she depicts (somewhat tongue-in-cheek) what life was like growing up in the Spelling mansion. Tori’s mother was reportedly unhappy with the way she was portrayed on the show; that coupled with the now famous break-up of Tori’s first marriage (which lasted less than 2 years) and subsequent “quickie” second marriage to fellow actor Dean McDermott, could, some speculate, have led to the mother daughter estrangement.
US Weekly reports: “Tori, I’m told will contest the will. However, the will has a no contest clause, so it could be a really messy fight.” In addition, the magazine goes on to say that the actress is in a situation where she could use some “financial help.”
