It’s a virtual celebrity baby bonanza… just hours after the birth of Tiger’s new cub, Julia’s latest bundle of joy and “Felicity’s” new son, Jeff Gordon has also joined the ranks of star parents.
The NASCAR driver just announced on his website that his Belgian model-actress wife, Ingrid Vandebosch, gave birth to a daughter this morning in New York. The couple named their new addition Ella Sofia Gordon. The proud papa says she weighed in at a healthy 7 lbs, 1 oz.
“It’s been an absolutely incredible experience,” Gordon wrote in a message on his site. “Ingrid came through amazingly and we’re both really happy and overjoyed. We can’t wait to get home and start our lives together as a family.”
Gordon and Vandebosch met in the summer of 2002 and wed in November 2006. But don’t expect that being a new dad will slow down the four-time NASCAR Cup Series champion. Gordon says he will travel to Northern California for this weekend’s NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series race.
Following in Candy Spelling’s footsteps (see: “The rich get richer”) actress Kelly Rowan has confirmed that she is engaged to Canadian billionaire David Thomson. Rowan is probably best known for her role as the family matriarch Kirsten “Kiki” Cohen on “The O.C.” Meanwhile, media mogul Thomson is considered Canada’s richest man and is currently ranked as the 10th richest man in the world, according to “Forbes” magazine.
The couple met in Toronto last year while Rowan was working. They plan to marry before the end of the year.
Finally, if you are like me and have a 3-year-old who adores “Sesame Street” you will be happy to know that new episodes are in the works. According to TV Guide, some big stars are visiting the “Street” for its upcoming 38th season. The magazine reports that Ellen DeGeneres and Jon Stewart will offer “occasional assists” for a new segment called “Word on the Street,” which will reportedly kick off each episode for the season. Other big names dropping in on Elmo, Zoe and Big Bird include Tina Fey, Rachael Ray, James Blunt and several members of the New York Jets. In addition, CNN’s Anderson Cooper will reportedly anchor a news segment called “GNN” (“Grouch News Network”), along with his grouch co-anchors Walter Cranky and Dan Rather-Not. The new season of “Sesame Street” kicks off on August 13th. HOORAY!
