GISELE’S BOLD MOVE
The jokes keep flying at the expense of NFL super star Tom Brady…
The beefy quarterback for the New England Patriots has been making headlines for two straight weeks—-ever since his ex-girlfriend Bridget Moynahan gave birth to a baby boy who shares his DNA, but not his last name.
Now word comes that while Brady may not be physically present in his new son’s life at least he sent a present to him… as did the football star’s current flame Brazilian supermodel Gisele Bundchen (whom Brady hooked up with shortly after he dumped Moynahan).
In a move that can only be called tacky (at best), a rep for an upscale baby boutique in L.A. told news reporters that estranged daddy Brady recently phoned in an order for a gift basket to be delivered to his infant son John. Then, before hanging up Brady reportedly handed the phone over to his new love and Bundchen paid for a separate order in the same phone call. The leggy blonde dropped $1,000 to have a gift basket filled with baby items delivered to Moynahan. And nice enough gesture, though, it would have probably been nicer if she hadn’t made the boutique’s owner throw in an infant onesie with the word “supermodel” written across it.
At first I gave Bundchen the benefit of the doubt. I figured since Moynahan was a high paying model before she ventured into acting, the onesie could be a tribute to the new mom’s former career. Then, I saw a picture of Bundchen holding the onesie to her chest and striking a come hither pose. Needless to say I stand corrected on my assumption that the gesture was innocent.
I think the incident was summed up best by a report I heard on the radio earlier today. An astute DJ commented that if there was anybody who was in need of some luxe baby presents they might want to check the trash outside Moynahan’s house—there’s likely to be some great stuff in there. Ya think?
JERRY’S NEW RECORD
Regular readers of this blog know that I am a devoted fan of Jerry Lewis’ annual Labor Day telethon, which raises money to benefit the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
Last year the legendary entertainer raised a record $61 million and I was a bit worried that he wouldn’t get the “dollar more” he was striving to make this year. When I tuned in early this morning the tote board was sitting at $22 million. I figured he had a few more hours and that it would be a stretch, but, perhaps enough donations would roll in at the last moment for Lewis to set a new record.
I was thrilled to learn that by the end of the show the tote board topped $63.7 million.
“We did it. We did it. I got my buck more. And more. We can go shopping,” a jubilant Lewis said at the end of the 42nd telethon.
Not a bad way to end the holiday weekend.
