JOAN COLLINS
It’s hard to believe, but Joan Collins still has men fighting over her.
I’m not kidding.
According to reports, the 74-year-old former “Dynasty” star recently sparked a bidding war between two affluent businessmen who were trying to win a date with her.
The British newspaper the Daily Telegraph is reporting that a pair of rich guys became locked in a bidding battle as the actress stood by and watched at the Caudwell Children Legends Ball in London last week.
A dinner date with Collins was one of the items being auctioned for charity. But no one could have predicted that spending time with the septuagenarian would have led to such a frenzy.
Once the bids reached $200,000 the actress stepped in to make peace. Collins granted both men what they wanted—-a private date with her on separate nights.
By the way, each man will have to cough up $200,000 for the privilege.
Joan Collins… warring men… 200 grand… what is the world coming to?
JENNIE GARTH
Well, now we know why Jennie Garth decided to drop out of CBS’ new sitcom “My Best Friend’s Girl.”
The actress is returning to her old stomping grounds with the all too familiar zip code, 90210.
As was widely speculated Garth will be reprising her role of spoiled rich kid Kelly Taylor on the CW’s new spin-off of Beverly Hills, 90210. Only now Kelly is all grown up and is a guidance counselor at her alma mater, West Beverly High.
Garth is the first original cast member to sign on to the project but will only be appearing as a guest character.
Other former cast member including Jason Priestly, Tori Spelling and Ian Ziering have expressed interest in joining the new cast, but have yet to score parts.
JOHN LENNON
If you have an extra $500,000 stashed away you might be interested in this next item.
The document containing John Lennon’s lyrics to “Give Peace a Chance,” written during the legendary 1969 Bed-in protest for peace, is reportedly being auctioned off in London this summer.
Lennon is said to have given the handwritten lyrics to a then 16-year-old Gail Renard -during the eight-day Bed-in at the Queens Elizabeth Hotel in Montreal. Lennon’s wife Yoko Ono revealed that her famous husband penned the lyrics and recorded the song in the hotel room with about 50 guests, who included singer Petula Clark and poet Allen Ginsberg.
The document is expected to bring $400,000 to $600,000 at the July 10th London auction.
