STAR WARS TV
“Star Wars” fans have reason to celebrate–The Force may soon be coming to your living room.
Yesterday George Lucas told The Los Angeles Times that he is planning a live-action television series spin-off of the “Star Wars” film franchise. But, don’t look for the TV show to include the film’s major characters.
“The Skywalkers aren’t in it, and it’s about minor characters,” Lucas told the Times.
Lucas revealed that the series is in the “beginning stages,” and declined to provide additional details. Though, he did hint that the series would be about “the life of robots.”
In addition to this new project, Lucas said his animation division is almost ready to unveil the computer-animated “Star Wars: The Clone Wars.”
COLBERT FOR PRESIDENT
Stephen Colbert fans saw this one coming…
In a move that came as no surprise to regular viewers of “The Colbert Report,” host Stephen Colbert finally announced his candidacy for president last night.
“I shall seek the office of the President of the United States,” announced Colbert on his Comedy Central show.
Colbert told viewers he had “heard the call” and moments later he tossed his satirical hat into the ring of an already crowded presidential race while red, white and blue balloons rained down on him.
The comedian said he planned to run in South Carolina, “and South Carolina alone.” (South Carolina is Colbert’s native state.) He also added that he would run as both a Democrat and Republican. Because then, he says, “I can lose twice.”
As far as running mate possibilities, the TV talk show host listed three possibilities: Colbert-Huckabee, Colbert-Putin or Colbert-Colbert.
Exactly how far Colbert is planning to take his mock campaign is anyone’s guess, but I wouldn’t be surprised if some of his fans actually wrote his name in on the actual ballots when Election Day rolls around.
