Popular Pain Killer Problem: Excedrin and Bufferin Recall

If you have recently purchased Excedrin or Bufferin pain killers, you might want tog et your money back, fast. That is because there is a recall out on these two popular pain killers.

Novartis AG issued a voluntary recall (meaning that the company issued the recall and was not forced to do so) on Excedrin and Bufferin, as well as two of their other products: NoDoz and Gas-X.

The problem that caused the recall is that these products might contain pieces of tablets or even whole tablets from other, different medications that they sell. The mixing of these different products in one bottle could be dangerous, since a consumer might wind up taking the wrong product, an incorrect dosage of a product or mixing two products or ingredients that shouldn’t be mixed. Overdoes and allergic reactions are two chief concerns.

The recall is for bottled packages of Excedrin and NoDoz with expiration dates of Dec. 20, 2014, or earlier, and for Bufferin and Gas-X Prevention products with expiration dates of Dec. 20, 2013, or earlier.

If you have any of these products, do not use them. Instead, visit the Novartis website at www.novartisOTC.com to learn about what you should do for the recall.

Recalls on medication can be scary. How can you possibly prevent something bad from happening to you if your medication is not what it should be? Well, for one thing, you should make sure that you recognize what your medication should look like. Sometimes medications do look similar to each other, so make special note of any numbers, letters or symbols that appear on the pill, as well as the color of the pill.

Check the bottle to make sure that there is no crumbling or breakage of pills. This could indicate that there is a problem with the product.
