I love toys that teach. When I can see that spark of discovery in a child’s eyes, it warms my heart. Legos have always been a good one for that, but there are a lot of others. Lastly, I got Elisha a clay set. He’ll pooh-pooh it as a baby toy (it’s intended for 8+) until the other kids are out of the room, then he’ll dive in! He makes the most beautiful sculptures! Have you ever played Cranium? We always let him do the ones with the clay because we can tell right off what they’re supposed to be. (Unfortunately, nobody could tell what my television set was – I swear it looked just like it!) The kit was only $3.99.
