Post-Holiday Travel Deals in Chicago

There’s no shortage of holiday happenings in Chicago, but once the Christmas trees come down the Midwestern metropolis gets a bit quiet (relatively speaking). Which is why many area hotels are offering post-holiday deals to lure visitors downtown.

I happen to love Chicago and have been there often enough to know that the following bargains are worth taking advantage of. Take a look at these outstanding deals, which are effective through January and then peruse the links that follow them. Each article provides details on spectacular Chicago attractions and proves that these hotel deals (at three-star properties in the heart of the city) are not the only reason you should visit the Windy City.

Millennium Knickerbocker Hotel

This landmark property is housed in a 1920s edifice and borders beautiful Lake Michigan. What’s more, it sits along the city’s famous Magnificent Mile, which means you are within walking distance of world-class shops and restaurants. The hotel just underwent a multi-million dollar facelift and it shows. Regular nightly rates run about $300 but right now Orbitz is selling rooms for $99 per night.

Affinia Chicago

This is the perfect lodging for large families. The property was formerly all suites, but since its renovation it is now a combination of executive rooms and suites, which means there is plenty of space in a single room to accommodate a gaggle of kids. The hotel also offers a pool and each room features canopy beds with pillow top mattresses. In addition, the 29-story property is just minutes from the Magnificent Mile. Rates typically run upwards of $350 but you can now stay here for just $108 per night.

Inn of Chicago

I’ve stayed at this hotel a couple of times and can testify that its location is incredible. It sits just a half-a-block from the Magnificent Mile and two blocks from Rush Street’s famous restaurants and nightlife. Each room comes with cherry-wood furniture and skyline vistas. The property also features two restaurants, a bar, and an open-air rooftop terrace, with a fitness center. It’s not the ritziest hotel in Chicago, but for $89 a night the price is hard to beat.
