For some reason, subconscious or otherwise, I have an obsession with jeans. This obsession was brought on from having babies. While I have written before about pre pregnancy jeans, I feel that post partum jeans deserve some attention. I think most women can agree that finding a pair of jeans that fit well and make us feel slim is fairly important (to us anyway). Finding the perfect pair of jeans is no easy task. The larger difficulty is finding the perfect pair of jeans after having a baby. After wearing maternity jeans for months, getting into a normal “feel good” pair of jeans is high on the post partum priority list (at least it was for me).
I wore my pre pregnancy jeans with a belly band well into my pregnancy so it was no surprise to me that I was able to wear those same pre pregnancy jeans several weeks after my daughter’s birth. While it was really nice to be able to fit into my pre pregnancy jeans so soon (I was ecstatic), I really wanted a new pair of jeans. I still consider myself to be post partum (I am not sure how long the post partum phase lasts … a year? nine months?) and I was determined to get back into my pre pregnancy size as soon as possible. I tried on jeans several times post partum. The first time was at six weeks post partum, my sister was visiting and we were both in the market for new post partum jeans. Trying on jeans was kind of disheartening because my pre pregnancy size was way too small and the next size up was extremely tight (lots of muffin top). I had resigned myself to wearing my maternity jeans for a little longer. My resolve lasted less than a week. At seven weeks post partum, I went jean shopping again and bought a pair of jeans in the next size up from my pre pregnancy size they fit really well only a week later (my pre pregnancy size was not able to button). I had every intention of buying the same pair of jeans in my pre pregnancy size. When the jeans went on sale again four or five weeks later. The stores did not have my pre pregnancy size in stock. So I ordered them online and impatiently awaited their delivery. A week later, the jeans arrived and I tried them on expecting them to be too small. Miraculously, the fit perfectly. At three months post partum I was able to buy a new pair of jeans in my pre pregnancy size. Now I just need to lose the last ten pounds of pregnancy weight!
