He was surprisingly upset that he peed in his underwear. I reassured him that it was okay and that sometimes accidents happen when we do not stop what we are doing, or watching in my son’s case, to use the potty. I got him into some dry underwear but he was still a little sad. We shared some milk and cookies and some hugs. He continued to use the bathroom for the rest of the day. The following day, we continued potty training. As soon as he awoke, he used the potty and we put him in underwear. It was Wednesday which is our grocery shopping day. I put him in a diaper for our trip to the store because we had not left the house since we started potty training and I did not want to have to deal with pee going everywhere at the grocery store. As soon as we got back from our shopping trip I took the diaper off of him and put he put his underwear back on and ran to the bathroom to use his potty. As our week progressed, the potty training continued to go well. Our son was getting the hang of going potty by himself for he most part. When we went out I would put a diaper on him just in case we could not get to a bathroom in time for him. We also put a diaper on him at bedtime but we were pleased to discover that he tended to wake up dry as long as he used the potty as soon as he awoke in the morning. Going pee and poop in the potty seemed to be an established habit by the end of our first week of potty training.
