Power of a Woman

I have been thinking recently about the tremendous influence wives have in their husbands lives. Ladies, a wife can make a man’s life wonderful, or she can make it miserable.

Have you read the story of Job? This poor guy was going through hell on earth. All of his children were killed, his riches were gone and he broke out in painful boils. All he had left was his wife. You might be thinking, “ Lucky he still had her.” I’m not so sure. She may have been part of the misery. She told her husband to, “Curse God and die.” She had just lost her children and her wealth was gone too, so I’ll cut her a little slack. But, my goodness, she doesn’t rank up there with loving, supporting wife of the year, does she? How about a little, “ Let me rub some ointment on those boils, sweetie.”

We can be ministers of comfort to our husbands. One of my favorite love stories is that of Isaac and Rebekah. When Rebekah and Isaac were finally introduced, the Bible says, “Isaac brought her into the tent of his mother Sarah, and he married Rebekah. So she became his wife, and he loved her; and Isaac was comforted after his mother’s death.” (Gen. 24:67) We are not given specific examples of how she comforted him, but I imagine it had a lot to do with tenderness, compassion and intimacy.

I enjoyed reading this blog the other day. Heather, our marriage blogger, gives a beautiful example of comforting her husband and how much that blessed him.

In my next couple of blogs I am going to give some practical advice about how wives can bless and comfort their husbands. I am personally challenged by this topic and I hope you will share your knowledge and experiences with me.
