Pregnancy and Excited Insomnia Part II

Once at the grocery store, I quickly found that two items that I needed and was on my way home within minutes. Upon arriving back at home, I kissed my son good morning and quickly got to work preparing a special birthday breakfast for my husband: Maple Caramelized French Toast with sausage.

After his special breakfast my husband opened his gift from our son and our joint card. Our son’s contribution was a few scribbles and his name while my contribution filled the entire left side of the card (heartfelt and perhaps a little corny). After spending a few more minutes with us, my husband headed down to his office (in the basement) to work on his dissertation (a seemingly never ending project). At which point I began the coconut pecan icing for his birthday cake.

Feeling like I had made significant progress in the day’s tasks
, I took a break to do my fifty minute prenatal Pilate’s workout. While my husband was still working in his office, I took about fifteen minutes to enjoy a relaxing bath… as it turns out, our son got a bath too.

Before we headed off to our third prenatal appointment, we made a quick stop at a local sandwich shop for some lunch. Then we headed to our midwives carriage house midwifery office for our appointment (more about this later). Immediately after we met our midwife at the ultrasound clinic for our scheduled “basic” ultrasound (more about this later too).

After the excitement of our ultrasound, we decided to celebrate both my husband and our unborn child by going for an early dinner to one of my husband’s favorite seafood restaurants (I am sure our unborn baby thoroughly enjoyed the benefits of the wild Alaskan salmon I ate!). After ordering some sushi to go, we were back in the car and on our way home to prepare for my husband’s family to come over for cake!
