“There’s an app for that.” It’s become such a popular phrase that it has inspired websites like appft.com (App For That) where people can submit their own “app for that” scenario. And pregnancy? There really is an app for that!
Pilates and Pregnancy
Sarah Picot is a Pilates instructor and an author. She created the ever popular Pregnancy Pilates DVD and has now released a new app for the iPhone called Pilates for Pregnancy – Complete. It’s not just an exercise app, it’s a pregnancy planner as well. It even includes a photo album. The planner includes a to-do list which gives you a list tasks to do during each trimester, according to how far along you are in your pregnancy. You can also add your own items to the list. Take notes at your OB appointments, keep track of test results, and store belly photos! This app is all encompassing.
Not Exactly E.P.T.
Answer ten short questions and the Am I Pregnant Quiz app will evaluate your chances of pregnancy. It also includes a pregnancy FAQ. Both the quiz and the FAQ were created by an OB/GYN, Dr. Amy Tuteur. Obviously this is for fun, it’s not a real pregnancy test. Repeat after me, “I will not pee on my iPhone.”
i Am Pregnant
This app makes me want to get pregnant again (and buy an iPhone). iPregnancy will keep track of your current gestational age in weeks and days or in lunar months, how far you have progressed, your current trimester, time remaining until your due date and until your next milestone. You can view a 3D ultrasound picture of the baby each week (obviously not yours, though) as well as general information about your baby’s weekly development and growth based on averages. Still can’t come up with a name? Use the baby name picker which has a list of the top 1000 names for last year.
Kick Counts
Around your 28th week of pregnancy, your practitioner will likely ask you to begin monitoring your baby’s movement. The Pregnancy Kick Counter app will help you do just that. All you have to do is tap the screen every time you feel movement and the tracker will record how many times your baby moves.
