Going to the nearby amusement park is something my husband’s parents do every year. We have accompanied them on several occasions. When they asked us to go this year all I could think was that pregnancy and amusement parks really do not go together. The rides that I usually enjoy are not safe for expecting mothers and I really have to wonder if the hassle of parking, the crowds, and the lines would really be worth the trip this year. For the sake of the grandparents and for the potential fun that our son might have, we went anyway.
As it turns out we ended up going on one of the busiest days of the season (on a Saturday no less and very near the end of the season). We did not know what we were getting ourselves into. It could be awful with the crowds and lines or it could be just fine. We ended up parking further away then we have ever had to park before but aside from the longish walk, it was not a problem. The line to get into the park was longer than I had ever experienced as well but my husband’s dad had pre-purchased tickets which saved us lots of time standing in line.
Once in the park we were pleasantly surprised at the ample shade and the ever present breeze. We did have to wait in a rather long line for sandwiches but they were well worth the wait and by the time we got our sandwiches my husband parents found us and a great place to sit and eat. By the time we finished eating, some of the lines at the toddler and expectant mother friendly rides had thinned out a good deal. Even though we still had to stand in line, the lines were much shorter than the had been and hour earlier. We were able to ride the tea cups, the balloons, and the carousel without to long of a wait. The grandparents were great! They helped entertain our son while waiting in line and they took pictures too!
All in all it was a nice day enjoyed by everyone!
