Preparing For A White House Wedding

Now that the world knows President Bush’s daughter Jenna is engaged to marry her boyfriend Henry Hager, bets are being made on whether the affair will take place in the White House.

Just in case you missed it, the White House announced yesterday that President Bush and First Lady Laura Bush are adding to the family:

“President and Mrs. George W. Bush are happy to announce the engagement of their daughter, Jenna Bush, to Mr. Henry Hager, son of the Honorable and Mrs. John H. Hager of Richmond, Virginia,” the White House said in a statement. “Miss Bush and Mr. Hager became engaged Wednesday, August 15, 2007.”

So when will the president be getting his new son-in-law? According to the White House, no wedding date has been set, but you would have to deduce that the nuptials would take place sometime before the first family moves out of their Washington digs in January 2009. Which is not to say that Jenna even wants a White House wedding. There is a good chance that she will choose her girlhood home of Texas (reportedly where many of her friends still reside) to serve as the backdrop for her nuptials.

The 25-year-old Bush daughter should have ample time to work out the details since it doesn’t appear as though her wedding will take place for at least another year. Her fiancé, a former Commerce Department staff member, is entering his final year of an MBA program at the University of Virginia this fall.

As for Jenna, she’s keeping busy with her literary career. Her book, titled Ana’s Story: A Journey of Hope, about a 17-year-old single mother in Panama living with HIV is due out in a few months. Plus, she recently announced she is working on an as-yet-untitled children’s book with her mother, Laura, to be published by HarperCollins next spring.

What do you think? Will Jenna have a White House wedding? Or do you think the nuptials will take place in Texas, Maine or elsewhere?
