Preparing to Move 2

Moving is a stressful time, and there is a lot which you have to accomplish in a short period of time. It can be overwhelming to think of tackling everything that needs to be done. If you are fortunate enough to be able to use a moving company, you will not need to follow these instructions. Most of the work will be completed for you in a relatively short period of time. Otherwise here are a few suggestions to make it easier.

1) Pick a room in which to store packed boxes. If you do not have a rarely used room, you may want to designate a wall in each room where you stack the already packed boxes. If you can keep the boxes fairly unobtrusive, you can begin packing things earlier on.

2) You can begin by packing one or two boxes a day for a month, and will find that you can accomplish most of your packing in easy steps. You will want to start by packing rarely used items or items that you can do without. Things that come to mind include clothes that are out of season, books, board games, and certain toys.

3) If your closets are full of boxes of stored items, leave them in the boxes. Leave the boxes in the closet. The work is already done, when you move you can just pull those items out as you are loading up the truck. You will want to make sure that you don’t have random items stuffed between the boxes however.

4) Pack your kitchen last. Your kitchen includes items you use every day. You can save yourself a lot of money by not packing up your kitchen until the day before you move.

5) Clean as you go. If you are finished packing up the room, take the time to clean the windows, blinds, walls and vacuum. Shut the door and count the room as finished until you do a quick clean up before you leave.

These steps will make the moving process easier. It can be tiring to pack up a whole house in one or two days. If you do it this way, then you can complete the task in smaller steps. Good luck!
