It may be easy to keep crackers, cookies, and cupcakes on hand for snacking but it is not healthy. Preschoolers need to learn heathy ways to satisfy snack attacks. The sooner they learn to eat healthy the quicker they will adjust and enjoy nutritious foods.
Healthy Preschool Snacks
Fruit and Cheese Kabobs: I love kabobs of all kinds. Kids love how fun they look. Get a few skewers and place cubed cheese and your child’s favorite fruits and berries such as bananas, strawberries, melon, blueberries, apples, etc.
Ants on a Log: I would bet you are familiar with this satisfying and tasty snack. You will need to cut celery into two inch portions and add one tablespoon of peanut butter then top with mini chocolate chips. Go easy on the chocolate chips. If possible, try to find dark chocolate chips.
Granola and Yogurt: There are plenty of interesting and healthy granola varieties to chose from to find one or two your child will like. Pair it with yogurt and you found a win ing combination. Make a little parfait for a delicious and healthy snack.
Sweet Potato Chips: Baked sweet potato chips are a much healthier alternative to bagged potato chips. Sweet potatoes are much more nutritious than white potatoes and have a sweet taste kids and adults love. Just slice the potatoes, leave the skin on or remove, brush with olive oil and sprinkle with salt or use butter and a touch of brown sugar. Then bake at 400 degrees for approximately 20 to 25 minutes.
Trail Mix: Try something sweet and salty with trail mix. Some items to add are: popcorn, chocolate chips, nuts, small crackers, dried fruit, and granola. Get creative and keep it healthy so it satisfies hunger without adding too much refined sugar or additives,
