Preschool Supply List

The first day of preschool is quickly approaching. This is a time of excitement and anticipation for both the parents and the children. You want to send them off with the right supplies to ensure they have a happy and successful school year. Most schools will provide you a list of must have items for your child and for the classroom. Let’s get to it and see what we need for a great year.

School Supply List: Each school can have a different list of supplies. Some schools will put things on the list like dry erase markers or an odd number of another product. The reason is you will be supplying not only your child but the classroom and possibly other children throughout the year. Ask the school how school supplies are divided up. I know of a few schools that will collect all the supplies children bring in up front and distribute them as needed. So, those cute folders or pencils you child picked out to use may not get used by her.

Other Supplies:

Tags: Make sure you tag your child’s backpack, shoes, jacket and lunchbox. I love Mabel’s Labels for all my labeling needs but there are other companies like Label Daddy who have a great assortment of cute labels.

Pictures: You may want to put a small photo album in your child’s backpack containing pictures of you, siblings, grandma and grandpa, a lovey or special item. Just something to comfort your child. However, this can be a distraction or lead to tears so determine your child’s reaction before doing this.

Change of clothing: The last thing you need is a call from a teacher telling you to bring a fresh change of clothing for your child due to a potty accident. Not only will your child be embarrassed and possibly crying she will be in dirty clothes for too long. For a discreet change of clothing supply a change just in case of an accident or a messy art project gone wrong.
