Besides a wedding and the birth of a child, most people consider high school or college graduation to be one of the most important moments of their lives. And rightfully so given all of the time, energy and money it takes to earn a diploma these days. So, why not preserve the special moments by dedicating an entire scrapbook to the day’s events?
Some people are reluctant to fill an entire memory book exclusively with commencement photos and memorabilia. The vast majority typically create a few layouts within a larger book. Regardless of the amount of layouts you plan to design, be sure to create ones that you can treasure forever.
In addition to traditional designs that include a single or double photo setting, consider featuring a montage of candid photos from graduation day for one of the pages. You can also add another dimension to the page by including a poem about graduation. Another idea is to include inspirational quotes or consider writing your own thoughts about ending one chapter of life and beginning another.
When designing layouts don’t forget to include special mementos such as a class ring, cap and gown and any honor cords or sashes the graduate may have earned. Since you can’t physically add the larger items, simply photograph them and incorporate the pictures in the page designs.
Planning your scrapbook color theme should be easy. In most cases you would use the graduate’s school colors and a couple of coordinating neutral tones, such as silver, gold, black, or beige. It’s also a good idea to look for frames and other elements in the school colors, so you have additional options when it comes time to place the photos on the page. Alternatively, you could pair the school colors with another color that can be used as an accent. For example, if your son’s alma mater’s colors are blue and gold, use papers and embellishments in coordinating shades of yellow.
