They might be pretty on the outside but two big name divas preparing to make their debuts on ABC’s “Ugly Betty” this month have track records that call into question their inner beauty.
First up: Supermodel Naomi “I-use-my-cellphone-to reach-out-and-touch-people-in-all-the-wrong-ways” Campbell. The former jailbird reportedly felt right at home on the fashion-friendly “Ugly Betty” set.
But forget about how Campbell felt, I’m more interested in knowing how her notorious reputation preceded her on the job?
Shockingly, nary a bad word was uttered about the diva’s guest stint.
According to series regular Michael Urie, Campbell was “awesome” the entire time she shot her scenes as an opposing softball player on the show. Despite the kind words Urie admitted to reporters that he was somewhat skeptical about Campbell upon hearing of her involvement in the show — “because, you know, we’ve all heard about her.”
The same can be said about pretty girl guest star No. 2: Lindsay Lohan.
The repeat rehabber will appear in the season finale of “Ugly Betty” along with Campbell.
According to reps at ABC, Lohan wrapped her scene–a flashback in which she plays actress America Ferrera’s high school chum–yesterday.
And brace yourselves, sources say Lohan not only showed up to the set on time, but she also nailed her part. No surprise there since her “Ugly Betty” character is someone Lohan has experience playing–a mean girl from high school who suddenly resurfaces in Betty’s life. Lohan reportedly did such a wonderful job producers say she will appear in five additional episodes when “Ugly Betty” returns for season three next fall.
However, when Lohan shoots her next scenes she will likely be traveling to New York to do so. Rumor has it that production of “Ugly Betty” is moving to the Big Apple to save money.
PEOPLE Magazine is reporting that the ABC hit comedy is pulling out of Tinseltown and will begin filming in New York City beginning in July. However, a rep for the show declined to confirm the move.
Personally, I think a move would lend some authenticity to the show given that it is set in New York City. Ferrera’s character Betty Suarez lives with her family in Queens, New York so why not infuse the show with the real deal.
