Primary Time: Activity Day Tips

If you are an activity days leader you have the opportunity to create some wonderful experiences for the girls you are serving. In some areas of the world you may also be working with boys as well. It is important that you take the calling seriously and that you strive to help the program meet its intended goals.

First it is important to plan out your activities well in advance. Since you meet twice a month, you can plan a general schedule for the entire year, and then have a specific meeting to plan quarterly. You can plan to work on specific areas of the Faith in God Ward each month. You can also work in the review of My Gospel Principles in conjunction with their activities.

Next it is important to be consistent. You need to plan the activities on the same day of the week at the same time. This will help the girls to remember when the activities are. Additionally it is important that you are consistent in being there and being prepared. If you have a large group you may have several people working wit
h you. You can rotate through who is in charge of the different activities, but you should each try to be there each week.

It is also important to allow the girls to help plan the activities as much as you can. You may have a list of activities that they vote on in order to meet requirements or you can have a suggestion box for the girls to submit ideas. If you are having an activity that involves the parents you can have the girls plan and help to prepare handouts or food as well.

It is important to create a loving and supportive atmosphere for the girls. This is a place where you should be able to feel the spirit. It is another place that the girls should learn gospel principles. You can also begin to teach basic homemaking skills.
