It is the beginning of the new year, if you are in the Primary presidency, then you are most likely planning the quarterly activities for the entire year. Here are five ideas for activities that may be fun for your Primary to complete.
1) One fun activity is to have the Primary have a cultural Christmas party. You can ask different returned missionaries from your ward share a little bit about the countries that they served in, and how those countries celebrated Christmas. You can have the guests set up in different rooms, and have the children rotate through. You may work it out, so that in addition to learning the children complete an activity in each room as well a game, craft project or refreshment that relates to the country they are learning about.
2) You can perform some sort of service for one your activities this year. You may want to put together care packages for the missionaries, make (decorate) cookies for new members in your ward, or complete a cleaning project of some kind.
3) One fun activity is to have some type of field day with different events for the children to complete. This is a lot of fun in the summer. You can add water to the activities if it is especially hot where you live. You can also do this with a focus on teaching safety.
4) Another activity you can plan is to have a pioneer day activity. You can have someone share stories about the pioneers. They children can make butter in a baby food jar. You can have pioneer dancing, and handcart races.
5) It is always nice to have a spiritual activity as well. You could have a short skit about the theme for the year, and sing songs as a Primary. You may try having a short time to share testimonies at the end. If you do have this activity, it would be helpful to encourage Sunday dress for the activity.
