TLC what does it stand for? Yesterday we saw T stands for Transformation. If our priorities need changing and we want to give our lives the right focus, then some things in our lives will need to be changed.
L is for love. Christians should show love and be loving. God is love and as Christians we need to reflect godly qualities of which the greatest is love, 1 Corinthians 13:13 When assessing our lives, it is the love and the people that matter.
If we look at Jesus, we see he was a people person. He cared about people, He listened to them and He loved them. Jesus loved us so much He died for us, Romans 5:6-8, John 15:13. Do we focus on other people and care for them and listen to them and love them as Jesus did? Are we prepared to sacrifice ourselves for others? Too often at the end of their lives, people say their wish they’d spent less time working and trying to get ahead financially and more time with family and people.
But, just like we need to make time for prayer and reading God’s Word, we need to make time for people. It won’t just happen. We need to take time to build relationships, to develop them and deepen them. Do you notice other people and their needs and do you respond?
C is for commitment. We need to be committed firstly to God and then to people. We need to have a deep concern for those who don’t know Jesus and a desire to try and reach them with the gospel. As a Christian, we can’t sit on the sidelines of life. We need to get involved.
As an individual and as a church we need to be involved with people and reaching those who have not heard the message. In your neighborhood or community, you may be the one God wants to use to further His kingdom, to make friends with and reach out to someone. Will you choose this year to get involved and not sit on the sidelines waiting for someone else in your street or neighborhood to make the first move? Don’t be just a pew warmer that goes to church but is not actively involved. Find something you can do in your church to help.
